"Is this seat free?" asked Alex Cabot, standing just a little off from the seat in question, which was currently occupied by a small heap of shopping bags that belonged to the petite brunette.
"Sure..." agreed Janet Fraiser, quickly gathering up her shopping and putting it on the floor by her feet.
"Thank you..." Janet watched with interest as the tall and elegantly dressed blonde sat down on the chair next to her.
"If you've got an appointment, they're running late..." explained Janet helpfully, about to return to her magazine, not really expecting conversation.
"About 20 minutes...there was a bit of panic from someone when she discovered that Luigi was on vacation..." shrugged Janet, gesturing across the waiting room to where Gabrielle was still trying to soothe Xena's fiery temper, which had not coped well when she'd discovered that her appointment had been made with Carlos, not Luigi. It had taken all three of Charlie's Angels, who, whilst also not impressed that there had been the appointment confusion, were much calmer than the irate Warrior, as well as Sam and a NYPD detective to calm her down and stop her carving Carlos into little pieces...As it was, Janet had been called upon to attend to a couple of scratches, although who had ended up scratching whom during the little scuffle and with what was rather unclear. It was possibly caused by the fuming Faith who had stomped out with Buffy in tow not long after the scuffle had finished.
"I know, which is why I came last week..." commented Alex calmly, smoothing out her suit skirt and wondering why she was making small talk with this woman, rather than continuing with the work she had brought in her briefcase.
"Likewise...he's very good, isn't he?" asked Janet, admiring the silky blonde mane that her companion carried very well, with it cascading perfectly around the outside of her face, rather than hanging in hunks in front of her nose, as could so often happen with such a hairstyle.
"Yes...but not with short hair..." admitted Alex honestly, trying not to shudder as she remembered what had happened when Carlos had gone off on an extended vacation, leaving Luigi in charge of all his customers. If anything, Olivia's hair had been uncharacteristically high maintenance and seemingly getting longer every hair cut, rather than shorter...
"Oh I know...Sam's hair was getting longer and shaggier..." Janet pulled an expressive face which spoke volumes to Alex.
"She's short and spikey too?" asked the ADA, enjoying chatting with her new friend.
"Definitely, very close cut at the nape of the neck...no bangs..." explained Janet firmly, recalling with horror the great 'wings' of hair that Sam sprouted whenever she tried to grow bangs. Close cut and slightly spikey was definitely the best look for her lover, concluded Janet mentally.
"Ah...Liv's bangs can be cute, but only if they're kept quite short...she goes all floppy otherwise..." explained Alex, equally firmly, picturing her lover's short hair with the short bangs that, with a little bit of gel assistance, just framed Olivia's face perfectly as far as Alex was concerned, "...but yes, close cut at the nape of the neck..." agreed Alex, smiling at the brunette who she suddenly felt a need to introduce herself to.
"ADA Alex Cabot, New York City Special Victims Unit..." she volunteered, holding out her hand to
"Dr Janet Fraiser, USAF..." offered Janet, shaking Alex's hand, "...and big fan of Carlos' work...but only on my girlfriend.." she concluded, grinning, unable to resist the urge to push her own long hair back behind her shoulder.
"Oh, definitely..." agreed Alex, before turning towards the door, through which a blonde and brunette, both tall and toned, with freshly cut short, slightly spikey hairdos came.
"Jan!" exclaimed the two women happily, seeing their lovers both in conversation together.
"Hey...you know each other?" asked Alex, gesturing between Olivia and Sam.
"We met today...seems we're both fans of Luigi's work...on our girlfriends..." admitted Olivia, flashing a grin at Alex which was only just outshone by the one that Sam flashed at Janet, not that either couple noticed what the other one was up to.
"Ah...though personally I prefer Carlos' handiwork..." commented Janet, reaching up to run her fingers up the back of Sam's neck and into her hair, before coaxing her lover into a kiss.
"Same here..." agreed Alex, before leaning in to kiss Olivia, dragging her fingernails across Olivia's scalp as she too enjoyed the feel of the freshly styled short haircut now sported by her lover.
"Hmm...as long as you like it..." agreed Sam, grinning lazily at her lover when they finally parted, deciding she'd happily be bald if that was what Janet liked...
"Very much so..." agreed Janet, before placing a quick kiss to Sam's lips and then stepping back out of the embrace.
"Nice meeting you Alex..."
"Likewise Janet..." agreed Alex, before turning to Olivia, "Ready?"
"I'll just go get my handcuffs...you mind coming to help Sam?" she asked, nodding in the direciton of Xena and Gabrielle, who, unsurprisingly, were exactly where they'd hustled the angry Warrior earlier and handcuffed her to the window so that Gabrielle had a chance of calming her down without running in circles trying to keep up with the angrily striding Warrior, really not happy about having her long dark tresses entrusted to Carlos's scissors, which naturally gravitated to shorter styles, unlike Luigi who coaxed length and volume into every head of hair that he worked on.
"Actually..." began Sam, scratching her elbow as she looked past Olivia to the corner where the couple were.
"You may just find it easier to toss them the key and get yourself a new pair..." explained Sam, nodding towards the now passionately embracing couple, their differences and Xena's anger obviously forgotten.
"Good idea..." agreed Olivia, reaching into her pocket and extracting the key for the cuffs, which she then tossed across the waiting room so it landed by their feet. Gabrielle could release Xena when it suited her now.
"See you in 6 weeks?" guessed Sam, finding herself reasonably keen to try and keep in touch with her new friend, and thinking their next haircut was as good a time as any.
"Four..." interrupted Alex firmly, only to be seconded by Janet.
"Four?" questioned Olivia, beating Sam to the punch.
"You don't want to get floppy..." explained Alex, running her fingers through Olivia's decidedly unfloppy bangs.
"...or shaggy..." added Janet, running her finger tip down Sam's nose, unable to reach the top of her taller lover's head.
Grinning sheepishly, both ladies nodded, and began to follow their long-haired lovers out to the elevator.
"You do know you're whipped, right Detective?" asked Sam, unable to contain herself.
"No more than you are Major, no more than you my friend..." countered Olivia, her grin matching Sam's in every way.
"See you in four weeks Counsellor..." called out Janet as they set off in separate directions once they got out of the elevator.
"Of course Doctor..." confirmed Alex, smiling at the small doctor. It was nice to know someone else liked their girlfriend's hair spikey...it really was the only way...
Have I finally lost the fluffy plot?
